5 Apr 2006 - Newsletter 27/06

Don?t forget our decorated egg competition. Entries in tomorrow (Thursday) please for judging. Children can use that egg for rolling on Friday morning or bring another one in. Hard-boiled please! We hope many of you can stay for the egg rolling on Friday morning. We will see you on the yard after registration.

Many thanks to Jill and Dave at Woodlesford News who have very generously donated a creme egg for each of the children to enjoy on Friday.

Suggestions Please?
The suggestions board will be back up today and tomorrow for the Parent Consultation Evenings. Is there anything about the school you think we could do better? Are you told what you want to know at parents evenings? Do we do them at the right time of year? What do you think of the new newsletter format?
Last time the suggestions board was hijacked by the children so they will be told to keep clear this time so the parent voice can be heard!

Lunchtime Supervisors
We have a vacancy for a three days-a-week lunchtime supervisor. What a lovely job for the summer term enjoying the great outdoors at Wainstalls! If you or anyone you know are interested, please let us know.

Nurse!
Those of you coming to Parents Evening tomorrow will have a chance to meet Doreen our school nurse. She will be offering ideas for a healthy lunchbox and available for any health advice. Do say hello on your way into school through the library.

Gridclub

Has anyone tried Gridclub at home?
While it is free for you to use at home, we as a school have paid for it so do let us know if you think it is worthwhile. head@wainstalls.calderdale.sch.uk

Congratulations to Elizabeth. She was awarded this fabulous trophy for receiving the top marks in the whole of Calderdale for her Violin Grade Exam. A future Vanessa Mae? Do stick with it Elizabeth!

(Elizabeth has violin tuition at school. If you would like your child to learn a musical instrument, call in at the office for a form.)

Green Fingers?
You will have noticed that the borders in front of the school were cleared in the autumn. We would like to plant up this area with low level perennials and shrubs. If you are gardening over the holidays and have any splits or cuttings from your own garden (or that of friends or relatives) that you could donate to us, please send them in after Easter. Some of the children will then be able to do some gardening themselves!
