Wainstalls 2006 Marathon Challenge
Wainstalls children have a fine tradition of raising money for those in need. Last year a fantastic amount was raised for Lepra, the leprosy charity. This year we have chosen the charity Children With Leukaemia as the beneficiary of our fundraising efforts.
Children With Leukaemia organise a fundraising scheme called the Mr Men Marathon Challenge. Don?t worry ? the children aren?t going to have to run 26 miles! Instead, each class will choose a sponsored challenge based on the number 26. They may for instance be asked to list 26 things in a particular category. Your child will let you know what their particular sponsored challenge is.
Sponsor envelopes are going out tonight along with an explanatory leaflet and we would like all the money envelopes returned by half term so there is plenty of time to round up some sponsors!
The Mr Men Marathon Challenge is a half and half scheme ? half the money raised is for the charity, half for our school fund to help us pay for educational visits to the school. We hope that family, friends and work colleagues will support the school in raising money for this worthy cause.
Gym Clubs
Both clubs are taking a short break and will restart week commencing 15/5/2006. The Thursday KS2 Club will continue as now. The Wednesday Club will be for Reception children ? letter to follow

Summer is (almost) here and Trevor Wright has very kindly offered to run our cricket club. From next week the Monday and Tuesday football clubs will become the cricket club. If any one from Years 5 or 6 would like to join us, please see Mr Procter for a permission letter.
We have said a sad goodbye to our longest-serving member of staff; lunchtime supervisor Barbara Bamforth. Thank you to all of you who generously contributed to a retirement gift. At a special assembly, we were able to give Mrs Bamforth a lovely bouquet of flowers and some jewellery. Barbara?s lunchtime colleagues presented her with a bench for her garden.
Lisa Smith from the kitchens has replaced Mrs Bamforth as our new lunchtime supervisor while we welcome Nicola Eastwood to the kitchen. We will be appointing another lunchtime supervisor shortly.
