Friends

Friends of Wainstalls, (FOW), support the school in raising funds for additional resouces used by the school and to benefit our children in many other ways.

FOW meet on an informal basis at either the Delvers or the Crossroads Inn to discuss how the funds raised would be best spent. We welcome you to come along to the meetings and join in sharing fresh and new ideas.

Thanks to all who attended the FOW Annual General Meeting. The committee members are as follows

Chair person = Tracey Wilkinson (Parent of Class 5 pupil)
Vice Chair = Angie Beswick (Parent of class 1 pupil)
Secretary = Suzanne Bizland (Parent of class 3 pupil)
Treasurer = Tracey Swift (Parent of classes 2 & 3 pupils)
Purchaser = Deborah Gibson (Parent of classes 4 & 5 pupils)
Social Secretary / Publicity Officer = Joanna Needler (Parent of class 4 pupil)
Parent Communications = Melanie Parker (Parent of classes 3 & 4 pupils)

If you require a contact number for any FOW members above, please contact school.
Please come along and enjoy the next meeting (get together) normally held at the Delvers as the FOW need your support to continue to raise much needed funds for our school. 30th April at the Delvers.
FOW recently lost several members as their children made the transition up to high school. This has left empty seats and lack of ideas and support. We desperately need your support to keep the good work going. All pupils attending Wainstalls benefit from the money raised as the money goes back in to their learning environment, either inside the classroom, library, playground or hall.. the list is endless. Please support the FOW meetings as your voice will be welcomed.

The 'W' Factor came back last June and boy did we see some talent. We are looking for more talent this year so all you budding artists start practicing...... The event will again be in June held at Mount Tabor Church Hall.

I'm sure all will agree it was lovely to see the children in church again for the Harvest Festival, Thank you to all who joined us for a coffeee/tea after the service we raised a total of £9.57

The Halloween disco saw some scary sights... frightening all the adults who came along. Once again is was a great success and raised a great total of £76.38 Thank you

Every class have received their certificates for grow your pound. ALL the young people within school were given a pound each £143 in total, then went to work making money. Classes had a healthy competition and went about making and selling their products.. Class 4 were the winners, but well done to all as you have added those special pounds to our pot £164.06 profit.

Janet Hulme has kindly given her time for the past few years organising the Web Ivory magazine that goes out near Christmas. Thanks to Janet and all those busy shoppers a healthy £201.81 went into our pot. Unfortunately for Wainstalls Janet has had to hang up the Xmas stockings as her daughter also went up to high school. We are now looking for a kind volunteer who would like to take the role of our Santa, organising, ordering and packing up the packages... this could be a Grandma, Auntie, Mum, even the men out there could take the role.... come on guys get your stockings out......

A HUGE thank you to everyone who attended or helped out at the Christmas Fayre. It was a fantastic turn out and wonderful atmosphere. Enjoyment was had by all, lots of fun, and best of all it's our biggest fundraiser throughout the year, the raffle rasied £308.81 and the Christmas fayre made an additional profit of £682.23. Hopefully you all enjoyed the Xmas puds.... they certainly were rich in every way, bringing in over £100.

Thank you to all who took part in the Egg rolling and decorated eggs. We all must give a HUGE thank you to our local shop at Mount Tabour for donating the Cadburys Creame Eggs and donated enough for ALL the children in the school and also for all the younger siblings who came along to roll their eggs.

Bags to School is back in April, bags will be sent home for you to look through all your cupboards and wardrobes for the old clothes/fabrics/curtains/bedding etc. etc. etc. You can get everyone saving, as this is a fund raiser with NO effort... Having the excuse to have a big spring sort out.. I'm sure family and friends will too welcome the chance. If additional bags are required please ask in school and help can also be offered if you are unable to get your bags up to school on the date. Please keep saving your items as once we weigh them in, the lbs (pounds) make real ££'s. In November we all raised £165. Lets hope that the spring clean will up the weight.

The children have all been waiting patiently for the playgroud equipment bought for school to open.  FOW were given a challenge by school to raise a huge total so the children could enjoy some of the outdoor play equipment we all see in our neighbouring schools. We can now hand over a cheque for £2500 with pride from everyone who has supported the fund raising events through out the year. We will all hear about it in the very near future from our children and we look forward to them being able to play on it through the spring and summer..... (lets hope the rain stays off)

Pig Racing earlier last year provided us with lots of fun and excitement for the whole family, raising money and enjoying a great evening. This year we have CATS.... No not real ones...... In May we will be inviting you along with mums, dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles etc. etc. to cheer on those little kitties running to get their cream.

Tracey Wilkinson (Chairperson of Friends of Wainstalls) would like to express her thanks to EVERYONE for their support over the past year and in return our thanks go back to Tracey for her consistant and continued support to the FOW and the school. Tracey along with her daughter leave Wainstalls this year, this will leave a massive hole in the FOW team who all work hard to keep the funds coming in which help to support our children. If you feel you have a few hours every 2 to 3 months please get in touch with anyone of the team.
